Building Dreams with the All Stars

April 7, 2021

Crum & Forster (C&F) hosts many giving programs throughout the year focused on a variety of community needs. Each day, employees, with diverse interests, embrace opportunities to give back to the communities in which they live and work and in January 2021 a relationship with All Stars Project was formed.

Founded in 1981, All Stars Project (ASP) is a 501(c)3 national nonprofit that uses a performance-based approach to help tens of thousands of inner-city youth and their families create success in their lives.  Each year, the All Stars Project involves more than 20,000 young people in development activities that give them the opportunity to perform and to grow.

One of the ways in which the All Stars Program achieves its vision is through the Development School for Youth (DSY) where young people experience the business world through a series of rigorous, high-level workshops and trainings where they learn to perform as professionals.  Business leaders from top companies conduct workshops and provide training in leadership and business including resume-writing, networking, public speaking, and dressing professionally.

In March 2021, C&F employees volunteered their time at a Resume Building Workshop. Employees were paired with young people (ages 16-21) during which they helped them create or update their resumes – and realize their potential.

“This opportunity was so refreshing,” said Paige Bagwell, COO Redwoods. “After a tough year for our country full of racial tensions, job losses, and COVID deaths, these young people brought hope and strength to each of us.  In such a small way, we helped them with their resumes, but more importantly, in a big way, they inspired us!”
