Compensation Programs
C&F is committed to providing compensation that reflects employee performance and is in line with competitive market information. The compensation program includes base salary and an annual bonus program.

Payroll
C&F is on a semi-monthly pay schedule with 24 pay periods per year. Direct deposit is available as well as the ADP iPay system which allows you to view your pay voucher on-line at any time.

Benefits
C&F offers a broad scope of benefit programs designed to meet the needs of a diverse workforce. Benefits represent approximately 20% of your overall compensation from C&F. New hires are eligible for benefits beginning the first of the month following your date of hire.

Time Off

  • Company Holidays - 10 per year (subject to change).
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) - bank of days available to all eligible employees to balance home and work life. PTO days can be used for vacation, illness, family illness, or personal use.

Health Benefits

  • Medical Coverage - C&F offers 2 medical plan choices through CIGNA to meet the needs of our diverse workforce.
    • Open Access Plus Plan.
    • Choice Health Savings Account Plan with a $1,000 annual company contribution ($2,000 for Family coverage) - pro rated for new hires.
  • Dental/Vision Coverage - C&F offers two dental PPO plans through MetLife.
    • Basic Plan.
    • Premier Plan (includes ortho).
    Both plans include vision coverage provided through VSP.

Savings Plans

  • 401K Plan - ability to contribute on a pre-tax or Roth basis with C&F matching contributions up to 6% of salary at 75% (if you contribute 6%, the match will equal 4.5%). You may also elect to contribute on an after-tax basis, not eligible for matching funds. C&F may also contribute a discretionary contribution at year end, based on financial results for the year. The Plan includes 15 diverse investment funds as well as the ability to open a self-directed brokerage account. On-line access to account and investment fund options provided by the Plan Administrator, Vanguard.
  • Fairfax Employee Share Purchase Plan - provides the opportunity to participate directly in the company's future by purchasing shares in Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited (C&F's parent company) through payroll deductions of 1% to 10% of your base salary. C&F matches 30% of your contributions each pay period and an additional 20% of your base contributions when Fairfax achieves their financial objectives.

Life/Disability Benefits

  • Basic Life Insurance - 100% company paid, equivalent of 1X salary.
  • Supplemental Life Insurance - available to you (up to 5 times your salary) and your eligible dependents (spouse up to $100,000 and children at $10,000).
  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance - available (up to 5 times your salary) for yourself or your entire family to provide payments in the event of an accidental loss of life or significant function.
  • Short-Term Disability - Salary continuation program of 70% of salary for up to 26 weeks during an extended absence due to a disability. This program is 100% company paid.
  • Long Term Disability (LTD) - provides salary continuation at 60% of gross salary with a maximum of $14,000 and a minimum of $100 per month when you are unable to work due to an injury or illness that lasts over 26 weeks.A COLA option provides benefits with a 3% COLA for the first 5 years of benefits.
  • Business Travel Accident Insurance - provides business travel accident assistance in the event you are injured while travelling on company business.

  • Education Assistance Plan - C&F recognizes the importance of continuing education and supports employees in their efforts to improve their skill sets.
  • Matching Gifts Plan - provides a 100% matching contribution to eligible organizations you financially support.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts - allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars from your pay to cover out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision, hearing, and daycare expenses. Maximum contribution of $5,000 for each account.
  • Qualified Transportation Expense - allows you to use pre-tax dollars to pay for your commute via mass transit and/or workplace parking.
  • Group Legal Plan - offered through Hyatt Legal services to cover a wide range of legal services.
  • Adoption Expense Plan - reimburses full-time employees who have completed one year of service for eligible expenses associated with the legal adoption of a child.
  • Merit Scholarships - two scholarships of $2,000 a year are awarded each year to sons or daughters of C&F employees for use in post-high school education.
  • Service Awards Program - C&F recognizes the importance of employee's service to the organization by offering awards to employees who attain milestone anniversaries.
